Electoral Mathletics

McCain is now making his case that it is mathematically impossible for Mike Huckabee to win the Republican nomination. The office pool starts now. George isn't so sure, because who knows where Romney's delegates will go? I think it sounds like a sales pitch as there hasn't been an official declaration yet.

Not Making Friends

The longer Huckabee stays in it and keeps McCain from looking like The Golden Child, the worse his chances are of securing a seat and the right hand of The Straight Talk Express come convention time.

Oh, come now

That was *not* what I said. :-)

McCain has effectively clinched the nomination -- not formally, as technically there are enough votes extant out there where they could combine and outnumber his, but that's also assuming some sort of Huckasweep that's just not going to happen. I was just arguing the "mathematically impossible" line. If Romney's, Paul's, and everyone else's delegates go to the Huckster, and he sweeps the rest of them, it's not *mathematically* impossible that he takes it. The only point where it's mathematically impossible is when McCain gets a majority.
