Friday Roundup: Winners and Losers

I think the clear winner in last's night debate was The American People. You could say that, or you could say that everyone was lucky that former Alaska senator Mike Gravel didn't punch anyone. I was convinced that would be the outcome, or that Brian Williams would make everyone put their heads down for not following directions.

The Washington Post says that Bush lost last night's debate, and the Politico has a rundown which is nice to everyone, just like the front runners were. I don't think enough can be said about what a great job Brian Williams did, nor about how hot Kucinich's wife is.

Seriously, look. I'm not kidding. The Congressman knows it too. Look at that grin.

In state news: in case you haven't heard, everyone thinks Bill White is running for Governor in 2010. The signs that it may be true? No one is running against him for re-election, and yet he's trying to raise two million dollars. And also, everyone I talk to that isn't buried in the session is saying "I'm so excited about Bill White running for Governor in 2010!" As soon as we get to January 2009, we'll have Josh Davis write an article about how vulnerable Perry is, and that will kick start White's candidacy. Well, that and the two million.

The Senate Democrats are doing their best to put up roadblocks to voter ID, and now their intentions to keep it off other bills as an amendment are becoming clear as well. This is a big deal, and if the Dems in the Senate can keep this off the table through the rest of the session, then the performance of the caucus in both chambers will have a list of unqualified successes to draw on.

Seriously, did I mention Kucinich's wife?

Is he wearing a silk shirt?

Also, who knew the Senate would pass a needle-exchange program? By a wide margin, even. That's indicative, possibly, of a progressive bent which may continue. They're also in the middle of some work which may result in benefits for the families of National Guard members from Texas who died in Iraq or Afghanistan, which they should be getting anyways but aren't.

In some mayoral news, the Dallas Morning News recommended Tom Leppert for Dallas mayor, while Sam Coats further distinguished himself in a large field. The article reads not entirely like a dual endorsement, but close enough so that the only issues, as they say, are issues.

Her name is Elizabeth! She's English!

With the bow tie (makes him look virile. -ed), we close out the roundup. Right-click to save!

Who's that guy with the hot lady?

Oh, Josh... He loves the red-heads, he really does.

If you want more information on the candidates for President, here's a good article:
