Giuliani Intellectually Dishonest & Wretchedly Opportunistic

Giuliani is receiving much praise for his debate bludgeoning of Ron Paul. Giuliani attacked Paul by misrepresenting Paul's explanation that Middle Eastern attitudes toward the U.S. stem from blow-back on foreign policy decisions made in present and past years by various administrations.

The exchange can be viewed here. The key moment occurs at the 2:17 mark, when the moderator asks Paul, “are you suggesting we invited the 9/11 attack,” and Paul answers, “I’m suggesting we listen to the people who attacked us and the reason they did it, and they are delighted we’re over there because Osama Bin Laden has said 'I am glad you are over on our sand because we can target you so much easier;' they have already now since that time have killed 3,400 of our men, and I don’t think it was necessary.” Giuliani replied, “That’s really an extraordinary statement, that is an extraordinary statement as someone who lived through the attack of September 11th, that we invited the attack because we were attacking Iraq; I don’t think I have ever heard that before, and I have heard some pretty absurd explanations for September 11th.”

Evidently Giuliani was not listening very closely to what Paul had just said; his rebuttal made no sense and was grossly inaccurate. I’m not here to defend Paul, but Giuliani is being rewarded for intellectual dishonesty by seemingly every news organization on what was clearly a gaffe, a demonstration of meat-headed reasoning — the very type of reasoning and intellectual dishonesty that got us into Iraq in the first place.

Giuliani?

Guess everyone needs to find a hero, even the GOP. I know Giuliani very well, having lived in NY during his tenure. I wasn't impressed at all and didn't vote for him. As a long-time Eisenhower Republican, I believe we need to set our sights quite a bit higher than this shallow myopic persona.

For years We Americans already have had too many of this A-type running the nation.
