McCain's Day Gets Worse: DNC To File Suit

We mentioned earlier John McCain's run-in with the Federal Election Commission regarding whether he can opt out of public funding against FEC rules. Well, that problem seems to be about to get a good deal worse for him. The Democratic National Committee is filing an official complaint against McCain with the FEC. If McCain gets the short end of the straw on this, he likely won't be allowed to spend any more money on his campaign until September. That's over half of the general election season. When put up against the millions the Democratic candidate will be spending over that period, that does not bode well for McCain's chances in the general election.

ABM

This ought to be catnip to the noses of the "Anybody But McCain" caucus. Imagine the fuel to the fire this would add to elbowing him out of the way at the convention if they knew going into it that he would be hamstrung until September?

Clash of the Titans

That's nothing. Imagine with me for a minute that McCain gets clobbered, and Huckabee's the nominee by default. Add along to the hypothetical the possibility that Obama wins the Democratic primary. Considering that Samuel L. Jackson has been stumping for Obama here in Texas, this opens up the possibility for a Norris/Jackson faceoff in the general election. Would the Chuckster roundhouse kick Jackson's endorsement in the face? Or would Jackson put a cap in his... well, you know?

Josh and I were discussing this possibility in the office today, of course, as we do with all serious political questions. I mean, what exactly does happen when an irresistible force meets an immovable object? I don't know yet, but I do know this: The Texas Blue's crackerjack political staff is uniquely qualified to analyze this unique possibility. I expect quick national prominence for us based on our insightful analysis of the potential martial artist/Jedi power struggle in the general election.
