New Roundup, 5/16/08: We're All Okay

The big story over the weekend was in regards to the health of Democratic legend, Senator Edward Kennedy. At roughly 8:00 a.m. Saturday, the Senator suffered "stroke-like symptoms" and was later diagnosed as having suffered a seizure. Since Saturday, no signs of a stroke have been discovered and the Senator's health has improved. The Texas Blue wishes Sen. Kennedy a quick and healthy recovery.

Meanwhile, back in D.C., Republicans are still stumbling over their message. On Friday, two YouTube videos began to be linked around the Internet featuring Republicans who were trying to stay on message, but had no clue what the message was. The first video found Rep. John Culberson of Houston unable to identify what was in the bill he was challenging on the House floor, while the second video had right-wing radio talk show host Kevin James unable to answer a simple question posed by Chris Matthews on MSNBC's Hardball.

Some conservatives, however, are not having any problems staying on message, says the Pentagon. Their "thoughtful" analysis, it seems, is helping the Pentagon justify why the terrorist holding facility in Guantanamo Bay is still open and has not been shut down in recent years. For those that question the military's train of thought on this, just remember: Michelle Malkin is the conductor.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a serious illness that should be treated with the same gravity as any other illness. Sadly, it appears the Veterans Administration may be looking to cut some corners with the diagnosis of PTSD to save some money. Look to VoteVets.org and CREW to stay on top of this story as it progresses.

And finally, local Texas mayors continue to act out against the idea of a border fence between the United States and Mexico. Several mayors and local business leaders plan to file suit with the federal government on Friday over the fence because the government did not properly negotiate property rights with landowners nor did they inform these landowners of their rights.
