Republican State Senator Kyle Janek to Resign

It isn't official yet, but the Chron is reporting that Senator Kyle Janek will announce tomorrow that he is retiring from the Texas Senate effective March 10.

I'm not sure what else this portends for Mr. Janek, but the writing has been on the wall about his pending resignation for some time:

There has been speculation for several months that Janek, an anesthesiologist, wouldn't complete his current four-year term, and it increased when he enrolled his young sons in an Austin school last fall.

He told Selby during the session that he doesn't intend to become a lobbyist, but it wouldn't surprise me if he eventually ends up riding the LobbyTrain to MoneyTown.

The Texas Senate 21 Club

Good! That makes a seat available for a non-Repulican. Right? One more chance lost for Florence Shapiro (altough I respect her as a woman) to complete her 21 Club she is aiming for in the Texas Senate which would mean the R's have 2/3 majority.
