Rep. Mark Homer

Mark Homer is the State Representative for District 3, which includes the counties of Lamar, Delta, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus and Red River. Rep. Homer was raised in Paris, Texas and graduated from Paris High School. He then went on to graduate from Texas A&M University with a degree in Animal Science.

After working for a while as a meat buyer for Safeway, Mark returned to Texas and received his MBA from Angelo State University. In 1989, Representative Homer returned to Paris and became partners in the family business with his father Frank, who had opened the first Texas Sonic Drive-In during the early 1960's. They recently opened their 18th Sonic Drive-In with stores in Texas and Florida.

Mark is married to the former Jennifer Ray of Houston, Texas, and they are the proud parents of three children: Hanna, Harrison and Hayden. He and his family are members of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Paris - where Mark has served as a member of the Parish Council and Scripture Reader.

Representative Homer was first elected to the Texas House of Representatives in November of 1998, and took office on January 12, 1999. He currently serves as a member of the Committee on Culture, Recreation and Tourism and Vice-Chair of the Committee on Judiciary.

In addition to his Legislative committees, Rep. Homer is vice-chair of the Rural Caucus, director of the Texas Legislative Sportsman Caucus, director of the Texas Conservative Coalition, on the board of directors for the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute, and a member of the Texas Legislative Tourism Caucus.

As an active member in his hometown community, Representative Homer serves on the Board of Directors for the Red River Valley Boys & Girls Club, the Denver Pyle Children’s Charities, and is a member of the Liberty National Bank Board of Directors in Paris. He was formally a mentor in the Paris Independent School District, served on the Board and as Secretary of the Lamar County A&M Scholarship Foundation, and on the Board of the Lamar County Crime Stoppers.
