The Voice of the Little People

While fulfilling my daily addiction for political gossip, I ran across an article that promoted the website electsusie.com and her run for the Presidency. My confusion and curiosity forced me to look into the website, and what I found was rather surprising. What's unique about Susie Flynn is that she is only a little girl.

The motivation behind Susie's effort is to get the message across to government of how important health insurance is for children. Susie sends the message that if the government will not do something to ensure that children have insurance, she will run for president and do it herself. Presently, 9 million children within the United States are without insurance, and Susie states that "by running for President, I intend to make everyone in America aware of the issue so that it will no longer be ignored."

The issue concerning health insurance is without a doubt going to be a large one throughout the next election cycle. Every candidate has a plan and a promise for how they are going to solve the health care issues in this country, but it must be ensured that children are not left out. It costs less to provide health insurance coverage to children than to any other group of people; it is a smart move economically. Even more surprising is that Americans over 65 have access to health coverage under the Medicare program regardless of income, but children have no such guarantee and don't even have the ability to help themselves like the elderly do.

Lacking a few years to meet the age requirement, obviously Susie can't actually run for president. But her message is still one that should get across to the progressive community. We have to represent the voice of all people, including the little people.

Hijinx

When I was in 8th grade, I ran my dad for President. On the anarchist ticket.

The nomination was easy to get.
