YDA Field Report: Emil Reichstadt Update

As Josh mentioned in one of the field reports on the Young Democrats of America conference last week, he and I did indeed run into Emil Reichstadt at the Dallas convention.

I had mentioned in a prior post that I had not heard any news on our third candidate for the Democratic nomination for Senate, and could not find a filing for him with the FEC. Fortunately, I got a chance to speak to him during the conference, and he has confirmed that he is in the race. I got the impression that he was looking file after this month. As he's been a little difficult to keep track of for some of us, I thought it would be useful to ask him for some contact information while at the conference, for those of you who are interested in knowing more about the heretofore hard-to-find third candidate. If you'd like to get in contact with his campaign online, you may have some luck with his MySpace page, as his web site is not up just yet. (Word is you'll be able to find it at Emil2008.com some time around the end of this month.) You can also reach him through email at e.reichstadt@airmail.net. The phone number for his campaign office is (214) 520-3355.

We have a golden opportunity in 2008 to defeat an unpopular Republican in John Cornyn during a time of strong anti-Republican sentiments by many across America. But it is still an uphill battle, as he is an incumbent Republican in a currently red state, with a significant war chest and who will be almost assuredly supported by the NRSC. All Texas Democrats should keep a close eye on this primary race, so we can make an informed choice and give ourselves the best shot to defeat Cornyn next November.

On the "DL"

He was also Drinking Liberally with us Saturday night. Though I think he stuck the non alcoholic variety.
