The Straight-Talk Express Breaks Down

The general election hasn't started yet and neither party officially has a nominee, but John McCain decided to try and take Barack Obama to task for some statements he made in last night's debate about Iraq and al-Qaeda. On McCain's part, this was a mistake.

Get Your Watch On

According to this and the ACLU, there is a roughly 1-in-300 chance you are on the terror watch list!

The Pittsburgh Blue

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Mackenzie Carpenter put together some good writing on the primary race here in Texas, with some quotables from Texas political heavyweights and a certain dashing young Editor in Chief. Read all about Texas politics in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette here.

Video: Scenes from a Dallas Clinton Rally

Various scenes from one of Bill Clinton's Dallas appearances on February 26, 2008. Some interviews with rally attendees as well as footage from the rally itself. We'll have film with Bill in a little while. Video after the jump.

McCain and Friends

John McCain is picking his friends poorly and then making them mad. Talk radio's Bob Cunningham went on a stump rant, which is later downplayed and rejected by McCain. Now Bob Cunningham is mad. And why not? He went all the way down to someplace to yell at a crowd for a good five to ten minutes, and this is this the thanks he gets?!

Texas and the Times

The New York Times' Randy Kennedy provides the rest of the world with a very, very brief introduction to the lay of the land in Texas and what our politics are like.

The Return of Romney?

There probably isn't much to this, but McCain has certainly been having a bad couple of days, so why wouldn't Romney be thinking about getting back in the business of presidential politics? It didn't work for Ross Perot, but that didn't stop him.

Video: Ana Hernandez in the Spin Room

McCain's Self-Aware Moment #1

The Iraq War has sort of faded into the background as an issue during the primaries, but you can bet it will be an enormous issue in the general election. John McCain has a nice self-aware moment here when he proclaims that if he can't change American hearts and minds about the Iraq War, he could lose the general election because of his position on same. I happen to think he'll lose the general election for a host of reasons and that this is merely one of many.
