So there's a primary going on today in Pennsylvania, and lots of people are getting out to vote. Never you mind that there's over 150,000 newly registered Democratic voters in the Keystone State. Consider this instead: on the news this morning, a correspondent for MSNBC reported that at a precinct in suburban Philadelphia, 17% of everyone that is eligible to vote in that precinct had already voted by 8:30 AM. I don't know what the turnout is like everywhere else, but that seems to be pretty heavy.

What if, starting next school year, the basic skills of football — how to catch the ball, make a tackle, throw a block — were taught only once to each beginner Texas player in the peewee leagues or in middle school, and then rarely, if ever, again?
Now take that and apply it to reading comprehension for public school students and you get the idea behind what the Chron's Lisa Falkenberg isn't crazy about.

TPMMuckraker reports that the Republican Party is in such electoral disarray that they can't even get their 527 message / swift boat-style attack groups coordinated, like Freedoms Watch. There are some dynamics at work here that I think are surprising, but indicative of the problems the GOP is having on the inside.
