President Bush, Meet Reductio Ad Hitlerum

Never let it be said that President Bush mocks civility and then rests on his laurels. Hot on the heels of discussing his great sacrifice in the Global War On Terror (giving up golf), President Bush rolled out Godwin's Law in a speech to the Knesset, the Israeli Parliament:

In a speech before the Knesset, Bush compared calls to talk with unnamed terrorist groups as a "foolish delusion" that was suggested before World War II.

Cornyn: CA Overturning Ban Will Spark National Push

Republican John Cornyn, our very own Junior Senator, telegraphs what will certainly be a staple of his campaign between now and November:

WASHINGTON – Thursday's California court ruling striking down that state's ban on gay marriage will spark a fresh push to add a nationwide ban to the U.S. Constitution, Texas Sen. John Cornyn said shortly after the ruling was announced.

Ant Invasion

They are here. They are plentiful. They want your plants and your electronics. They laugh at your can of Raid. That's right, our ant overlords are on the march:

In what sounds like a really low-budget horror film, voracious swarming ants that apparently arrived in Texas aboard a cargo ship are invading homes and yards across the Houston area, shorting out electrical boxes and messing up computers.

Childers, Cazayoux and Foster

That's not a law firm, folks. Those are the three Democratic Representatives elected in special Congressional elections in Mississippi (Travis Childers), Louisiana (Don Cazayoux) and Illinois (Bill Foster) in the last three months.

Out Of Touch Elitist: George W. Bush

You have to read the transcript of President Bush's interview with Yahoo! News yesterday in order to believe what he said about why he doesn't play golf these days:

Q Mr. President, you haven't been golfing in recent years. Is that related to Iraq?

Texas Is Not Money For McCain

Once more I find myself linking Evan Smith and Texas Monthly's Poll Dancing blog, this time for a story about John McCain's money woes in the Lone Star State. McCain has raised $5.5 million in Texas, but what's really fascinating is that he's raised less than Senator Clinton ($6.8 million) or Senator Obama ($6 million) have in Texas.

We here at The Texas Blue like the look of those numbers!

Edwards To Endorse Obama?

Evan Smith at Texas Monthly's Poll Dancing blog points readers at a teaser by Mark Halperin at The Page that insinuates John Edwards might be endorsing Barack Obama. Tonight. In Michigan.

Misrememberance: The Prequel

There is one word and one phrase I could gladly live the rest of my life without hearing after this nomination battle: Misremember (in any iteration) and "throwing ___ under the bus".

Alas, I can't even find solitude from this word and this phrase in the nightly half hour of The Daily Show. Last night Master of Iraq Disaster, Bush apologist and intelligence masseuse extraordinaire Doug Feith fired the latest volley from the quiver of misrememberances during an interview with John Stewart:

I'll Gladly Pay You Tuesday For Some Scrutiny Today

The Washington Post's Dan Balz echoes Tim Russert's sentiment that it will only be a matter of time before the media start scrutinizing Senator John McCain the way that they've scrutinized Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama:

The American People Deserve An Obama Presidency

Thus spoke Robert Novak.

Novak's assessment of some of the evangelical community is that they will not support John McCain's Presidential aspirations this year, deciding instead to wait for 2012 when Mike Huckabee will run for office again (they hope). In the meantime, an Obama Presidency would be a plague upon the nation.
